Thank you for your interest in participating in our first Annual Expressive Arts Program + Runway Show for women cancer survivors. We have provided an overview of the program and expected volunteer time commitment. No modeling or artistic experience is required to participate. After reviewing the information, if would like to participate as a model, please complete the MODEL PARTICIPATION SIGNUP FORM
During COVID-19, we are organizing a virtual fashion show by holding a socially distanced, professional video shoot for models to have a runway experience. During our 8-weeks together, Models will select two fashion expressions from their personal wardrobes. They will have a team of wardrobe coaches to assist them in their selections.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Join us if:
• You are a woman diagnosed with any form of cancer at any time during your lifetime.
• You live in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to travel to participate.
• You are able and willing to participate in the 8-Week Expressive Arts Group.
• You agree to work with our fashion wardrobe coaching team to create/select 2 fashion expressions from your personal wardrobe to model during the Fashion Show.
• You agree to attend ALL Fashion Show Rehearsals + Professional Video Shoot.
Expressive arts healing
The rehearsals are combined with our Expressive Arts (EXA) Healing Program, which is eight-weekly virtual group meetings, starting on Wednesday, March 17th to April 28th, 2021, for approx. 2.5 hours each week. There are up to 16 participant spots available.
The group participants (models), as a whole, decide on the three emergent themes to explore during the 8-weeks together.
Each week, models are encouraged to journal and reflect on these themes by using the expressive arts, which includes dance/movement, drama, music, poetry and visual arts.
Each model may decide to share these reflections, in whole or in part, during the Survivorship Fashion Show – a time will be arranged to record each person’s reflection.
Fashion show outfits
As a Fashion Show Model, you will be modeling fashions from your personal wardrobe. We have a fashion team available to provide coaching to select 2 outfits for the runway.
The program includes 5 seminars for you to learn about how to look at your current wardrobe to make these daytime and night-time selections.
You will have an opportunity to work with our fashion coaches during a 1-1 zoom meeting to review choices you’ve selected from your closet.
It’s important to remember, we don’t expect or anticipate the need to purchase any new wardrobe items for the Survivorship Fashion Show.
Optional fundraising with Model Pages:
Unlike other cancer nonprofit fundraisers, we do not require models to raise any funds or meet funding quotas. We do provide each model with a unique Sponsor-A-Model Page, where she can share her cancer journey and invite friends and family to support her runway experience. Fundraising is optional.
